Main idea
  • Germanic kingdoms that acceded the Roman empire were reunited under Charlemagne

Why it's important
  • Charlemagne spread Christianity through northern Europe


  • Middle ages - medieval period
  • 500 - 1500 AD
  • Medieval Europe is fragmented
